GIVING UP AND TAKING ON - Most of us learned early, the practice of "giving up" something for Lent. This practice does have a time honored flip side. It is "taking on" something for Lent. What can we give up and what can we take on that enables us, during Lent and the time following, to see Jesus more clearly, to love Jesus more nearly, to follow Jesus more nearly day by day? During the rest of this Lent and the time following, Joy congregation will take up something. We will add a second opportunity to worship on Sunday morning. The Sunday morning schedule at Joy will look like this:

Worship (Contemporary) - 8:15 am
Sunday School for all - 9:15 am
Worship (Traditional)
-10:30 am.

The 8:15 am worship will follow the format we have used on Saturday
evening. The music/hymns/songs will be
contemporary. The 10:30 am will
continue in its tradit
ional style. Holy Communion will be celebrated/offered at
both services. At its February meeting Joy's Council approved this Sunday
schedule
for use Sunday, March 7 through Sunday, May 30. Adding this
early morning service will be evaluated after this thirteen Sunday trial
.

LENT 2010 - On the Sundays in Lent during the sermon/homily we are
consider
ing prophet Jonah and his travels as described in the Old Testament
book of Jonah. We do this as we also travel to the hill of Calvary and the
garden grave.

On Wednesdays in Lent we gather for supper at 6 pm. Supper is served until 7
pm. At 7 pm we assemble in the worship area to sing Evening Prayer and spend a few moments of devotion looking at the heart of Jesus. Here is the schedule and supper assignment.
