LENT 2012 - Lent arrives on February 22, Ash Wednesday, this year. As part of our Lenten discipline we add another opportunity for weekly worship, prayer
and fellowship at Joy. These will occur on six consecutive Wednesdays beginning February 22. Each Wednesday at 6 pm one of Joy's committees will serve supper.
The Outreach Committee will serve potato soup for the Ash Wednesday meal
. Our Ash Wednesday worship with Imposition of ashes and Holy Communion will start at 7 pm. For the next five Wednesdays we will gather also at 7 pm in the worship area for a devotion and "Evening Prayer." The Wednesday devotions will turn our attention to the Old Testament prophets. Do you have an Old Testament prophet that you'd like included? Please share the name of the prophet with Pro Appel. Check your Bible's table of contents. The prophets are listed beginning with Isaiah and concluding with Malachi.

During worship on Sundays in Lent we will use a series called "Watchers on the Hill." This series allows us to overhear conversations between those - some
historical, some fictitious - who witnessed Jesus' crucifixion. With the cross as the focal point and the final words of Jesus as the common thread, each dialog seeks to share the significance of our Savior's death and the miracle of our salvation. Would you like to assist with the dialogs? Sc
ripts are available. See Pro Appel.
Thanks in advance!'
